GRANT WRITING CERTIFICATION SEMINARS:
AUGUST 2 in WACO

AUGUST 9 in ELGIN

Dear D5870 Rotary Leaders:

Governor-Elect Barry Curlee asked me to address you on this very important matter.

Outlined below is some very important information. I know that each Rotary Club wants to do local and international projects. Getting D5870 support is always helpful. As your members contribute to the RI Foundation, your club then has opportunity to receive some of the money back in the form of District Assistance Grants or Humanitarian Matching Grant support.

We need your help to train someone from each D5870 Rotary Club to write better applications for the above grants. This is done through seminars conducted by Kay Trub, Grants Committee Chair.

As we prepare for the grant writing certification seminars in August, it will be important to make sure your club has gained certification. Please review the attachment to see your club status. Members of your club may have attended a seminar in Waco or Elgin last year or at the District Assembly in April. Your next opportunity is on August 2 in Waco and August 9 in Elgin.

Note in the attachment that 35 clubs are currently certified with 57 individual Rotarians having attended seminars. Thre are some clubs missing from the list that routinely write grant proposals. If any non-certified club does not attend a session in August, they will not be able to submit a DAP Grant proposal (local) or a Humanitarian Matching Grant proposal (International).

Thanks for your participation. If you have any questions, please let Kay Trub, Grants Committee Chair, or me (Foundation Chair) know.

Best wishes for a great 2007-2008 Rotary year. Gene Davenport

Do You Know How Foundation Recognition Points Work

DG Jim and Brenda are proud to announce the total from the “I” Bucket.  DG Jim earned The Rotary Foundation $945 by saying “I’ or “me” a total of 3780 times at 63 clubs for an average per club of 60. DG Jim and Brenda will round that figure to $1,000 for a Paul Harris Fellow. We hope everyone had fun with this.

New Sustaining Member Recognition
Jim Warden and Brenda Osbon (spouses of DG and PDG) are members of the Rotary Club of Austin-Oak Hill.  They have ordered a new Sustaining Member Recognition  pin that is available to all of the clubs for a nominal fee.  Many Rotarians have not yet reached  PHF status but are supporting The Rotary Foundation yearly.  This pin can be worn at occasions where the wearing of the PHF    medallion/ribbon are appropriate, such as The Foundation Dinner.   If your club or an individual would like to order one, please contact Jim Warden at sales@syn-elec.com or Brenda Osbon at brendaosbon1@aol.com.
